Covid-19: Entry 2020 FAQs

We understand and appreciate you may be anxious at this time. However, we would ask that you please remain patient as the Admissions team are working remotely.  Therefore, it is important to allow us sufficient time to deal with your query. We would ask that you include as much information as possible to assist us in dealing with your query and always include your CAO / PAC / Advanced Entry Application Number in all correspondence.

We recognise the uncertainty that the coronavirus outbreak has caused for applicants to WIT and other higher education institutions and we would like to reassure you that we will continue to work to ensure your transition to higher education is as straightforward as possible given the circumstances. In that regard we would encourage you to maintain contact with us but be patient as we adopt to the circumstances of remote working. Together we can look forward to a return to normal practice.

I have made an error in my Advanced Entry Application - how can I correct this?

If you have made an error in your application, please email [email protected] (using your WIT Student Account if you are a current student).   Please ensure to provide your application reference number and details of the change you are requesting. Your change request will be reviewed and should we be in a position to amend your application, Graduate Admissions will apply the amendment prior to the processing of your application.’

I made an Advanced Entry application and need to submit supporting documents - what should I do?

Please write your Advanced Entry application number of each page of each document you wish to submit, scan all documents and email to [email protected]. You must quote your application number on your email subject title. Once the current restrictions are lifted, please post to the Graduate Admissions Office, Room IT1.12, Walton Building, Waterford Institute of Technology.

I cannot take my English language test to meet the WIT English Language Requirements - what are my options?

WIT recognise that standard tests are not readily available and for 2020 ONLY (in response to Covid-19) the Duolingo English Language Test and IELTS indicator will be considered. Click here to see detailed requirements.

I live outside of Ireland - If I am offered a place for the 2020/2021 academic year, will I be able to register? 

If you are an applicant living outside of Ireland, registration as a student of the Institute for the upcoming 2020/2021 academic year will be determined based on travel advice available - see http://www.hse.ie

Please note that you may not be permitted to commence your studies at WIT for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Will advanced entry applications be processed as normal?


When will I get my advanced entry offer?

First round offers are due to be issued to all eligible applicants from 26th June 2020 (tbc) and issue of second round offers will be ongoing from 15th September 2020 

I am waiting on my practice placement results - will this affect my application?

It is normal for this time of year to have students waiting on practice placement results. It is not possible to determine if an applicant is eligible for an offer until the official result of placement has been submitted. Offers will be issued on an ongoing basis into September as results are submitted.  Applicants must ensure to submit results once they have been issued, applications cannot be fully assessed until these are submitted.
