1. WIT Open Days

Date:   29th March, 2019 – 30th March, 2019 

Time:   Friday 29th – 5.30 pm – 7.30 pm

            Saturday 30th 9.00 am – 2.00 pm

Location:  Main Campus, Cork Road, Waterford

The Open-Day is an ideal opportunity for those now considering WIT as a mature applicant or school leaver to meet with staff and receive valuable advice and help prior to making a late application.  Late CAO closing date is Wednesday 1st May, 2019.  Application fee €60.00.


2. President's Scholarship Programme 2019

The WIT President's scholarship programme encourages and rewards inspiring people who demonstrate a capacity to shape a better society.

  • WIT wants to support five individuals who already demonstrate the ability to make Irish society a better place, and allow them to further their potential. 
  • In our search for this year’s President’s Scholars we welcome applications from prospective students who are inspiring in their actions and behaviours. 

The programme will see five exceptional students being awarded scholarships with a total value of up to €12,000 each. There will be one scholarship available in each of the five disciplines:  Business/Engineering/Health Sciences/Humanities/Science & Computing

Each President’s Scholar will receive a bursary of €2,000 per year of study.   See http://www.wit.ie for further details.

The below courses will not have an intake in September 2019. If you have one of the courses currently listed as a CAO 2019 course choices, please ensure to review and update your CAO course choices before the February 1st deadline. Our full Engineering portfolio is available for review here.

4. Advance Notice – Change to Entry Criteria 2020 Intake (issued July 2018) 

Change in the maths entry requirements from 06/H7 to 05/H7 for courses WD151, WD153 & WD155

5. Reminder – Change to Entry Criteria from 2018

WIT is now accepting both Art or Design & Communication Graphics at O3/H5 for the following courses: 

a. WD137 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Design (Visual Communications) 

b. WD152 Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Visual Art 


6. The Maths Entry Exam 2019 

Designed to assist students who have not achieved the required grade in maths for entry into Waterford Institute of Technology. The process provides a “second chance” for students to achieve that grade by attempting a paper comparable to the leaving certificate ordinary level paper. The content of this paper will be based on the leaving certificate (ordinary level) syllabus.

Candidates who apply to sit the examination at WIT and if they achieve the designated grade specific to their chosen programme of study, they will be offered a place (subject to numbers) as a CAO round 4 offer in September. Offers to eligible applicants will not be made in advance of round 4. 

The exam will take place at WIT on Friday 30th August, 2019. Application opens on Wednesday 14th August.
