South East Technological University – Waterford Campus

Institute of Sanctuary Scholarship Scheme

Academic Year 2023/2024

South East Technological University Waterford Campus supports the University of Sanctuary initiative which aims to welcome refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants into our college community, and to fostering a culture of welcome and inclusion for all those seeking sanctuary. SETU has a strong track record of contributing towards diversity, inclusion and internationalization in higher education, having been a leading Higher Education Institution in internationalization within the Irish Higher Education sector for almost two decades. The University has a long tradition of reaching out to and supporting migrant and refugee students in its local area. The Office for International Relations was a lead contributor to the development of standards in the provision of higher education for international students, and served for many years on the Executive Committee of the Irish Council for Overseas Students which is an advocacy body for all overseas students. SETU has a track record of ‘giving back’ and offering scholarships to international and overseas students from areas of the world which require emergency assistance or face development challenges. SETU is an active participant in many international and government scholarship schemes. SETU is an education focused, collaborative, inclusive, and innovative community. SETU aims to be in the top 100 young universities in the world by 2030.
