Studying abroad as part of your degree brings many benefits. Research shows that students who study abroad acquire 'transversal skills', which are highly valued by employers, as graduates with international experience fare better in the job market.
The International Exchange Programme allows Non-EU students to spend time in Waterford, Ireland and WIT students to experience life at other Non-EU Institutes/Universities.
Non-EU students who want to spend semester at WIT
If you are a Non-EU student looking to study at WIT as part of your degree and your Institute/University has an International Exchange Programme partnership with WIT, you could have the opportunity to study at WIT on the International Exchange Programme.
WIT students partaking in exchange studies at partner Institutes/Universities outside of Europe
Full-time, registered WIT students opting for exchange studies outside of Europe can spend a semester at one of our non-EU partner Institutes/Universities. We have inter-institutional agreements with over 25 higher education institutes outside of the EU. Students participating in the International Exchange Programme not only gain invaluable academic and/or work training experience, but also have the opportunity to experience life in another country, develop language and intercultural skills, travel and broaden their horizons.
Visit our webpage here for more information on studying abroad if you are a WIT student.
What is the International Exchange Programme?
WIT has over 25 partners internationally (non EU countries) providing opportunities for our students to experience life further afield.
We have partners in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canda, China, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Taiwan and the USA. Our non English language speaking partners also deliver some modules in English.
Students are exempt from paying tuition fees at the host institution, however, financial support is not available as it is with Erasmus+.
The programme is designed so a student can do part of their academic work in a partner institute. You will get to experience another culture, improve your language skills and learn about the different approaches taken to your subjects in another Country and institute. The time spent in the host institution is fully recognized by WIT through the use of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
