Why WitUndergraduate & Postgraduate Study

Undergraduate & Postgraduate Study

Undergraduate Study

Waterford Institute of Technology offers different levels of qualifications, and there is a high level of flexibility regarding points of entry and exit along one’s study path.

At undergraduate level, awards are made at higher certificate, bachelor degree and honours bachelor degree levels. Programmes leading to a Higher Certificate normally take 2 years of full-time study, Bachelor Degrees take 3 years and Honours Bachelors Degrees usually take 4 years of full-time study. On completion of one level of award, successful students can transfer directly to the next highest level.

Advanced Entry into Undergraduate Programmes

Students who have completed 2 or 3 year University or College awards in their own country may be considered for advanced entry and gain exemptions from years or subjects of courses at WIT, at the discretion of the admitting academic Department.

Postgraduate study

WIT offers postgraduate courses at Masters and Doctoral (PhD) levels for students who meet the academic requirements for admission. Achieving higher degrees greatly enhances the holder’s employability, earning capacity and promotional prospects. Postgraduate degrees may be undertaken in either taught mode or research mode. Please visit the postgraduate and research sections of WIT's website for further information.
