WIT Arena retain national award for the third year in a row

WIT Arena recognised for their high standards across safety, hygiene, customer engagement and human resources as it wins ‘Overall Best Fitness Facility’

The annual Ireland Active awards took place in Johnstown Estate, Co Meath recently with the WIT Arena retaining their title as the ‘Overall Best Fitness Facility in Ireland’ for the third year in a row. Ireland Active is the representative body for the Leisure, Health & Fitness Industry, who preside over the awarding of the National Quality Standard Awards (NQSA).

The NQSA, is the most sought-after and respected accolade in the leisure and fitness industry and is awarded to facilities that meet the operational standards for leisure and fitness facilities. The standard is designed to encourage continuous improvement within the sector and recognises facilities for their remarkable standards in the areas of safety, hygiene, customer service and human resources.

Industry-specific award

The NQSA are the only industry-specific award for the leisure, health and fitness sector in Ireland. Awarded to 98 facilities nationwide this year, the awards are designed to acknowledge excellence in the Leisure, Fitness and Hotel Leisure facilities. The overall winners in five main categories who were recognised for their high standards across safety, hygiene, customer engagement and human resources.

Excellent team

Speaking after receiving the award WIT Arena manager John Windle highlighted that ‘to receive this award for the third year in a row is more than we could have hoped for. It is a real reflection of the consistency of the work that is carried out by our excellent team at the WIT Arena. We set ourselves very high standards and this award is a reflection that these standards are being consistently met. I can’t praise the team at the WIT Arena enough and am delighted to accept this award on their behalf.’ As part of the event, John was also part of the Ireland Active Industry Panel where he discussed current trends in the Leisure Industry.

WIT Arena

The WIT Arena opened its doors in 2016 and this year alone there has been close to 500,000 people through the doors utilizing the state of the art facilities. Winning this award for the third year in a row is great recognition for a facility that has been a very welcome addition to the region.

WIT Arena is the largest sports, conference and events centre in the South East of Ireland. The Arena is situated on the outskirts of Waterford, just off the motorway exit, which makes it easily accessible to the immediate city and neighbouring counties. This multipurpose facility will cater for a wide range of events such as recreational gym users, high-performance athletes, multipurpose sports, kids' activity camps, leisure and entertainment events and conferences.
