WIT School of Business Executive MBA class visited the most recent addition to Bausch + Lomb's world-class facility in Waterford.
On Thursday 7 February 2019, the WIT School of Business Executive MBA class visited the most recent addition to Bausch + Lomb's world-class facility in Waterford.
This site visit was undertaken as part of the Executive MBA's Lean Operational Excellence module with lecturer, Darrin Taylor, with the primary objective of programme participants taking a facility tour of a world-class operation to see the real-world application of lean and operational excellence thinking and practices.
In addition to viewing the new facility's production areas which were purposefully designed as value streams, participants viewed various tiered meeting areas and management boards.
There was also a hugely interesting and insightful presentation from Deirdre Lacey, the site operational excellence lead, on the company's OpEx Strategy, employee engagement initiatives, and cultural transformation. (Deirdre is presently completing the School's Master of Business in Lean Enterprise Excellence executive programme.)
Such industry-academia engagement and collaboration is integral to executive programmes in the WIT School of Business, providing a significant value-add in terms of knowledge exchange and seeing theory in practice.
