Work placement, small class sizes and detailed modules drew me to the Bachelor of Business (Hons) course at WIT

When and where was your first job after graduating?
My first job was in Glanbia on their Graduate Programme as an Accounting and finance graduate where I am still currently working.

What do you hope to hope to achieve in the future?
I hope to be a Qualified Management Accountant in the future.

How has your studies at WIT helped you to get where you are today?
The small class sizes and up to date modules link well with current affairs and give a key insight to today's business world. WIT also strong supported me with volunteering projects, I had the opportunity to volunteer in Africa in 2015 teaching English and as part as a micro finance programmer helping women in poverty develop their businesses. The WIT meithal group kindly sponsored this venture.
More recently in May 2017 I had the opportunity to volunteer as a nurse with WIT nursing students in Lourdes where we helped local pillgrams from the Waterford and Lismore dioceses.

Did your work placement / internship or contact with the Careers Centre help get you to where you are now?
During my work placement I spent 6 months in EY in Dublin as an audit intern in financial service operations. This opened my eyes to the business world and I gained necessary skills and experience to get offered the position I am in today.

Why did you choose your course/ to study at WIT?
I choose to study in WIT firstly because I am from Waterford. The small class sizes and detailed modules really appealed to me as well as the work placement semester.

What advice would you give to students considering your course?
I would say that this course in WIT will teach you the necessary skills required for the business world, aswel as provided endless opportunities for continuous learning and development.

What advice would you give to those unsure of college or of what course to pick
I advise anyone interested in business that are not sure what course to pick to study the BBS as the wide range of modules cover everything in the first 2 years after which you are well prepared to choose your specaility.
