Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accounting students receive PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)Scholarship, and Merit Award now in its 17th year at WIT
WIT students got a strong reminder that big firms are interested in their academic progress with the announcement of the winner of the 17th PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholarship and the awarding of Merit Awards.
Based, in part on first year exam results, the Scholarship process gives PwC an opportunity to meet with high achievers in accounting at an early stage and many past winners of the Scholarship have gone on to work for PwC.
It is also an incentive for students to do well in their first year exams and to see that the big firms are interested in them.
The 2015 Scholarship winner has been announced as Gemma Heaslip. A formal presentation took place to mark the occasion of the award of the 2015 scholarship to Gemma and the Merit Award to Shane Rice and Seen Mun Chung
All three students are now in the second year of the BA (Hons) in Accounting. They achieved the award based (partially) on their grades in first year of the programme.
Martin Freyne, Partner in PWC interviewed a number of candidates based on their grades in first year and awarded the Scholarship to the ‘best’ candidate (usually the one who interviews best and is the most ‘rounded’ student). A Merit award was given to the other students interviewed.

I would like to thank PriceWaterhouseCoopers for sponsoring these awards and for continuing to support the BA (Hons) in Accounting Programme,” said Paul Treacy (Course Leader, BA (Hons) in Accounting).
