What attracted you to study at South East Technological University?
WIT was an easy choice for me. I had heard many great reviews about the School of Business whilst I was in secondary school. Smaller class sizes, with the prospect of having a more engaging educational experience, were quite admirable. Similarly, SETU business students have an impressive record of employment following their studies. Also, studying locally allowed me to maintain two part-time jobs throughout college and partake in many charitable/extra-curricular activities.
Did you always know this was the course you wanted to do?
Initially, No. I had originally studied Law for a year. I soon realised that it was not the industry I saw myself progressing in and very much missed some of the subjects that I had studied in School (Accounting, Business, and Math). One of my best decisions was to alternate from Law to Business. Business came to me much more naturally and I enjoyed every minute of my fours of study.
What words of advice do you have for new students?
Choose a course that interests you! Take every day for what it is and remember that hard work, enthusiasm and motivation will pay off. Network to the best of your abilities and seize any opportunities that may arise from SETU.
What have been the highlights of your college experience?
Undoubtedly, it has been the people that I have met along the way. My college experience would not have been the same without my new and existing friends, as well as my attentive lecturers.
How did work placement to your college experience?
Work placement was an invaluable experience. You are given a large part of the year to gain essential work place skills and harness your professionalism, as well as put your learnings to the test. I have also made some wonderful professional connections from work placement.
What have you done since graduating?
2020 was a difficult year for all graduates. The global pandemic proved a challenge in obtaining employment. Resilience and persistence were my greatest allies throughout 2020, I am now a Graduate Fund Accountant.
