Alex O’Hanlon came to WIT due to the fact it was close to home and seeing his siblings enjoy their experience at the college made the decision easier for him. We caught up with Alex on his graduation day in 2019.
Why did you choose Waterford Institute of Technology?
Both my brother and sister went here and got a really good education out of it and they both loved it so it was kind of just the natural choice and it’s close to home as well
How was your work experience?
I did an internship in the WIT marketing office in my second semester of third year. Which is two years ago now, it was actually really good for me. I did web internship. So basically I was just helping as an assistant more or less. I was in charge of creating staff profiles and that kind of thing, I did a lot of work on cognito forms. I also had to do a lot of work for student life and learning; it helped me really decide that I don’t really want an office job but instead I want to do something exciting and practical. But I actually really-really enjoyed it, I think the whole experience was good.
What advice would you give to someone interested in this course?
I think definitely go for it. It’s a really broad course and you can specialise in 3rd and 4th year so you get experience with everything and you can decide what you want to do after that. So yeah I think just definitely go for it, it’s a really-really good course.
