MBS (Economic and Finance) student Iona is a member of the Waterford senior camogie team and the fourth recipient of this prestigious scholarship
The School of Business of South East Technological University are delighted to announce Iona Heffernan as the recipient of the Women’s Gaelic Players Association (WGPA) scholarship for 2018-2019.
Iona, from Ferrybank in Waterford is a student on the Masters in Business Studies (Economics and Finance) and is a member of the Waterford senior camogie team.
Employment pathways for Gaelic players
Speaking at the presentation Professor Denis Harrington, Head of Graduate Business stated how “we are pleased to collaborate with the Womens Gaelic Players Association (WGPA) again this year in providing this scholarship opportunity. Recipients play an active role in college and community life and gain significantly from our professionally oriented programmes. In providing these opportunities for graduates, it facilitates pathways for them into the employment market as well as allowing them to take advantage of the international dimension of Irish business and entrepreneurial opportunities.”
Five scholarships available
Iona is the fourth recipient of this prestigious scholarship which stems from a partnership between SETU Graduate Business and the WGPA. Previous recipients of this award include Sarah Ann Fitzgerald (Laois), Sarah Ann Quinlan (Kilkenny) and Mairead Brady (Offaly). Applications are now open for scholarship places for 2019-2020 with five annual scholarships available on the Masters in Business, MBS (Marketing), MBS (Management), MBS (Human Resource Management), MBS (Economics and Finance) and the Executive MBA.
