Quantity Surveying and Construction Management Students at new CitySpace Hotel currently being built By BAM Building Ltd

Quantity Surveying and Construction Management Students visited the site of the proposed CitySpace Hotel currently being constructed by BAM Building Ltd at Mary Street Little (just off Dublins Capel street).

An informative and in depth insight into the planning and execution of the proposed CitySpace Hotel was provided to the Quantity Surveying and Construction Management students by BAM Building site team. This was facilitated by WIT Alumni, Conor Sludds Project Manager and David Hoban Site Engineer. The site is the deepest open excavation project currently underway in the City Centre and as a result has fourteen full time Archaeologists in attendance during the bulk excavation stage of the Works. The students were shown some of the more significant finds uncovered by the Archaeologists to date (some of which were over 1,000 years old) and the site team were on hand to explain the effect that uncovering works of this nature has on the programme and delivery of the project. Our third year BSc in Construction Management & Engineering student David Kelly is currently on work placement as part of his course with BAM on this project and is getting some fantastic experience, already responsible for the setting out the location of the CFA piles on site and is really getting to grips with and enjoying his placement.
