"Professionally I learned a lot about business and the sport side of things, so I will be able to bring that on to my job in the future."

International sportswoman and Recreation and Sport Management graduate Hayley Fitzsimons explains why WIT was a good decision for her

Why did you pick WIT?

It was on my doorstep and the course I wanted was there, there was no point in moving away from home and you get home cooked food as well. I came straight from the Leaving Cert into the college, it was a good decision that I made, Im glad I did it.

Do you have an interest in sports?

Yes, I compete for Ireland in the Javelin, shotput, discus.

What are you doing now?

I am in full time training. I am currently taking a year out before I do my masters.

What made you choose this course?

I suppose I had a love for sport at the start and then because the business element is in it, you are getting 50/50, 50% of sport and 50% of business. I thought that it would be a great opportunity because of the fact that you can get two degrees out of it. So I went for it and loved it.

What were the personal and professional benefits of this course?

My personality grew, I got more confident. I learned a lot, and there is a great relationship between the students and the lecturers in the course. Professionally I learned a lot about business and the sport side of things, so I will be able to bring that on to my job in the future.
