Rebecca Beil from Kilkenny returned to SETU to pursue a postgrad which would be useful for becoming a clinical nurse specialist
Can you tell me a bit more about what that the Postgraduate Diploma in Science in Nursing entails?
It is further education for nursing students who have already graduated. It is a practice based program based on two semesters.
What do you specialise in?
My speciality is mental health.
What difference does this degree have on your job?
It has furthered my knowledge in nursing. When I did my undergraduate course, clinical governance wasn’t a big thing back then so I learned a lot more about that and other things. It gives me more opportunities to further my career aswell, to become a clinical nurse specialist would be my goal.
Why did you choose to study in SETU?
I did my Psychiatric nursing degree here so I knew my way around and it is convenient to travel to.
Why did you decide to do this course?
I decided to do this course both to further my knowledge and because a postgraduate diploma is needed to become a clinical nurse specialist.
