Dawn Smyth graduated from SETU in September 2015 with a first class honours degree in General Nursing. Dawn was selected as winner of the Nursing and Midwifery category of the International Undergraduate academic awards 2014.
Dawn then collaborated with Dr Paula Lane, Lecturer in Nursing and Health Sciences, SETU and together they published their paper entitled, Abortion in Modern Healthcare: Considering the Issues for Healthcare Professionals; in the International Journal of Nursing Practice, January 2016. Paula has a special interest in ethico-legal issues in healthcare and holds a LLM in Medical Law (Cardiff Law School).
Paula acknowledged Dawn's wonderful achievement, adding that "this is a very special, unique achievement since Dawn is the first undergraduate BSc Nursing student in Ireland to have an academic paper published in an International Journal".
