Chartered Physiotherapist Conor McCarthy offers advice to prospective Waterford Viking Marathon participants with regards warming up and cooling down.
Conor also urges the importance of utilising cross training or resistance exercises to reduce the chance of injury.
The video showcases a number of demonstration that you can use to ensure injury is not on the cards.
Waterford's sixth annual marathon event will take place on Saturday 24 June 2017. The new route planned for 2017 will take in the two bridges of the city, Rice Bridge and Thomas Francis Meagher Bridge on the N25.
WIT has partnered with WLRfm Waterford Viking Marathon and is delighted to be sponsoring the goody bag for the 2017 event on 24 June 2017. All race distances will finish at the WIT Arena and athletes register and pick up their bag at the sports campus in the days before the race. The Institute, through the Department of Sport & Exercise Science, is will also be hosting events, publishing articles and running competitions to promote exercise and health.
