Students from the Legal Studies class made €600 from a bake sale with the proceeds going towards expensive law books for the College St library
Students from the Free Legal Advice Clinics (FLAC) Society and the fourth year BA in Legal Studies class held a bake sale with the aim of raising funds to buy a number of expensive law books to donate to the college library.
The literature
Monday 22 May saw the students who were involved and SETU Students Union (WITSU) donate the much needed literature to the college street library. The legal books included; "An Introduction to Irish Company Law," "Banking Law," "Arbitration Law," "The Law of Credit and Security," "Equity and the Law of Trusts in the Republic of Ireland," and "Irish Law of Torts."
The students, which included Michaella Itaire, Iveta Kazumba and a host of others were able to secure donations from Delahunty Solicitors, Tesco Ballybeg and the WITSU.
Getting involved
Students and staff alike pulled together for the event and raised €600 from the bake sale which was held on the Cork Road campus as well as the College Street campus.
Organisers Michaella and Iveta said the event itself was a “simple and tasty way to raise capital and leave memories.”
Giving back
WITSU President Michelle Byrne said, “[I am] absolutely delighted to see students take the initiative to give back to SETU and to help other students. We were happy to be able to assist the students in their donation to the library and helping them with the ordering of the books.”
