Legal Executive Deirdre Walshe tried part-time education before committing to being a full-time student and has since found her career in the industry
“Deciding to go back to college to do the Higher Certificate in Legal Studies was a daunting prospect as a mature student. I studied the HCLS on a part-time basis by night to test the waters before committing to a degree and leaving a full-time job. By the time I had finished my first semester it was apparent to me that I had made the right decision.”
Commitment
“After completing my night studies I knew I was ready to commit to full-time education and I chose the route of the Ordinary Degree in Legal Studies followed by the Honours Degree in Law and Business. The transition from part-time studies to full-time education was made easier by the lecturers in SETU who could not have been more accommodating and obliging.”
Support
“I met great people along the way in my fellow students and had the opportunity to get involved with the Law Society and ELSA, among the other clubs and societies. The support offered by lecturers throughout my years in SETU was above and beyond what I could have ever expected. They want to see you succeed, they wanted you to get the most out of yourself and they taught me that if you put the work in you will get the results.”
