BA (Hons) in Tourism Marketing and Higher Certificate in Tourism with Business students recently took part in a field trip to Dublin on March 22.
The field trip included Chester Beatty Library, the National Museum of Archaeology and ended with a short visit to the National Gallery.
Highlights for the students included the wonderful Asian and Islamic artefacts presented in the Chester Beatty library and in particular the papyrus fragments of the Egyptian Book of the Dead dating back 10 centuries BC!
Students were also particularly taken with the bog body display at the Museum of Archaeology as well as the evidence of Ireland's ancient gold and silver craft making. The National Gallery is still being redeveloped which curtailed the visit somewhat but still proved to be a fascinating experience for the group.
A great day not dampened by the weather and we are all looking forward to going back to Dublin again next year
