Institute's links with France highlighted during visit, including active research and exhange links with 60 universities and research institutions
The recently appointed French Embassy attaché for Education and Science to Ireland, Dr Stéphane Aymard visited WIT recently. Dr Aymard met with staff of the Institute’s International Office and the Research Support Unit to discuss ways of developing closer links between the Institute and French institutions.
"WIT has active research and exchange links with over 60 French universities and research institutions’, commented Sinead Day, International Affairs Manager.
"There are currently over 70 French students studying on a variety of programmes at the Institute, most of whom spend a year in Waterford as part of the EU funded ERASMUS exchange programme. This year eight Waterford students have chosen to spend part of their undergraduate studies in France studying at WIT partner universities in Montpellier, Perpignan and Strasbourg", added Don O’Neill, of WIT’s International Office.
During the visit, the attaché met with Prof Denis Harrington and Declan Cahill from the Graduate School of Business, to discuss the successful double degree Masters programme in Internationalisation run jointly with the Brest Business School in France. Dr Aymard also met with Francophone students at the institute from France and Tunisia.
The visit highlighted the many links that currently exist between WIT and France and with the support of the French Embassy in Ireland it is hoped to develop further collaborative projects in the near future.
