Lakshya Sharma from India gives us an insight into the life of an international student and why choosing WIT was the best decision of his life
How did you end up at WIT for the masters?
Well I’m from India and I was looking to do a masters in electrical engineering in Ireland. I was looking for some specific elements and modules with the masters. During my research it became clear that WIT offered a good course with a variety of modules based on my interests. I was interested in alternative sources of energy. The course itself was very well structured and the lecturers are really good. Having just finished the course I already have two job offers in hand. I’m very thankful to WIT and extremely happy to be here today.
How did you find it coming to WIT as an international student?
It was really welcoming. As an international student I was a little afraid of how the people would be here. WIT has lots of Erasmus students coming from all over Europe and even all over the world. I had a really great time here and I have met some amazing people and learned about different cultures so I really owe it to WIT. Coming here was one of the best decisions of my life.
Are you still around Waterford for work?
I have stayed in Ireland. I have a job with John Wall construction and I am based in Longford. The work culture here is also really good so I’m very happy and enjoying it here.
Any advice for international students who are thinking of coming to WIT?

Enjoy your stay and you’ll make some good friends and you will have amazing memories to look back on. Time flies at WIT because the supports and lecturers are very good. You’ll always feel welcome at WIT.
