John plucked up the courage to walk away from a career as a supervising pharmacist in pursuit of his passion of "engineering, physics and numbers"
What are you doing since the course finished?
I’m currently working with a company called Critically Carbon. They are based in Kilkenny but they operate all over the world.
How did you get the job?
It was really the modules that we covered throughout the masters that helped me get the job. It was great because I had the job before I graduated. I have been a mechanical engineering consultant with them for 6 months. The pending qualification was good enough to secure the job.
What made you decide to do a masters?
My undergrad was actually in pharmacy and worked as a supervising pharmacist for about 5 years but my passion was always with engineering, physics and numbers and stuff like that. I eventually plucked up the courage to go back to study and I contacted WIT about the Masters and the fact that I had an undergrad in science put me in great standing to gain entry.
What pushed you towards WIT?
Honestly, I know a few people that have graduated from here. My wife’s brother and her cousin had studied here previously and they had great things to say about WIT. I was also based in Waterford a lot for work and I heard great things about the college through work too.
Would you suggest others to come to WIT?
Yeah I would 100%. I found it a fantastic college. I was based up in the Cork Road campus it’s a great campus and great feel to the campus. There are plenty of clubs and societies that you can join in as well so it’s great
