Waterford Institute of Technology students Niamh Duggan and Olivia MacDonald were the recipients of the CPA Ireland Student Merit Award for academic excellence at a ceremony held on Thursday 9th October at the SETU Campus.
Both students achieved the highest results in the Financial Accounting exams in their degree courses. Niamh Duggan received the award for excelling in her Bachelor of Business (Hons) class, while Olivia MacDonald excelled in the BA (Hons) in Accounting class, achieving the highest result ever recorded in the exam for this particular award.
Both students received cheques worth €200 from CPA Ireland, which were presented by Waterford-based CPA member, Mark Kennedy from Mark Kennedy & Co Accountants.
Paul Treacy, Programme Leader of the BA (Hons) in Accounting, praised the students for their outstanding results. "It is important to recognise students who strive to reach excellence in their academic work. I would like to thank CPA Ireland for sponsoring this prize and for continuing to support SETU students in their educational career."
