Graduates from the School of Business at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) are again punching well above their weight in the Final Admitting Examinations (FAE) of the Chartered Accountants of Ireland (ACA) with two former students placing in the top ten.
Of the 1,100 people who sat the 2012 exams, Catherine Banville, from New Ross, Co. Wexford, placed 5th with Michael Tubritt from New Ross, Co. Wexford, placing 10th overall. Catherine, who graduated with a Bachelor of Business Studies from the Institute in 2010 and who currently works for PwC, one of the big four accountancy firms, was also placed 7th in the CAP2 examinations in 2011. Michael, who studied on the Master of Accounting and completed his BA (honours) in Accounting in 2009, is now working at RSM Farrell Grant Sparks.
Dr. Thomas O’Toole, Head of the School of Business at WIT is delighted with this most recent success, commenting, “The Institute would like to send our congratulations to two of our fine graduates. Achieving these results in the FAE’s puts Catherine and Michael in the top 1 per cent of their accounting peers.
Of course, the Institute’s graduates are no strangers to success in ACA examinations, achieving many top ten’s in both the FAE’s and CAP2 examinations in recent year. This achievement is even more impressive when you consider that fewer than 3% (about 30 individuals) of those who sit the FAE each year are WIT graduates.”
