MBS dissertation helped Anh with skills in self-learning and time management, which she describes as essential skills for life after college

Anh Le studied at WIT from 2017-2018 and was based on the Cork Road Campus. Her first job after graduation is working in the Ministry of Planning and Investment in Vietnam.

How has your studies at WIT helped you to get where you are today?

After WIT, I gained knowledge and skills that helped me thrive in my career path.

Why did you choose your course/ to study at WIT/ study in Waterford?

I am an economics student with a focus of finance. The course I chose was MBS in Economics and Finance was a perfect blend between two majors. I chose the course and WIT with an expectation that it would fulfill my career aspiration and equip me with necessary skills for the future.

What was your experience?

I really enjoyed the program as the learning process was active and interactive. By team-working with students from different disciplines, I could understand a topic/an issue in multi-perspectives. The dissertation was the hardest part of the program. But it did improve my self-learning ability and time management, which were essential skills after college. I felt myself getting upgraded in both knowledge and skills after having done the MBS program in WIT.

Can you recall your feeling when finding out you were offered a place in WIT

Just one word: Happy. I was super excited to know that I would be coming to Ireland to study. I had always dreamed of studying abroad to learn about new cultures, meet new friends and to see the world beyond my so-usual horizon.  And when I made it, I could not stop smiling.

What advice would you give to students considering your course?

Time management and balance are key. You don't want to spend all the time just studying but you don't want to lose track with it either. If you can do both of that, you definitely will enjoy the course to the utmost.

Living arrangements

I stayed at both College Fields and Manor Village dormitories during my course in WIT. The housing were clean, well-equipped. The staffs were nice and helpful. I was a great time for me as I can make friends with many international students who studied abroad like me.

What is Waterford like as a city for college social life?

Waterford is a nice, calm and affordable city for students. It might not have all the best entertainment facilities but one can still enjoy social life living in Waterford. I remember having hung out with friends every weekend in the Apple Market area drinking a few pints of Guinness and listening to live music. The city was very student-friendly.
