Ryan Cunningham explains why he chose to study his undergraduate degree locally and how it has led him to study a masters in public relations (PR)

Following his studies at WIT, BBS (marketing stream) graduate Ryan went on to do an MSc in Strategic Public Relations and Communications Management at the University of Stirling in Scotland. We spoke to him at graduation day 2017.

Why did you choose WIT?

I am from Waterford anyway so it was an easy choice, it’s a really great college. I think there’s a lot of great links with industry and it’s really practical. I love anything where I can apply myself.

Two of my sisters have actually done the degree before, so I had really heard great things about it from that.

You’re going on to study PR, what in your course led you to that?

I my third year there was an elective in Public Relations with Rachel O’Dowd and she really made me love the discipline.

What would you like to do in the future?

I’d love to be a PR practitioner or maybe come back to WIT and teach.
