Perfectly positioned in semester six, work placement as part of the Bachelor of Business (honours) (BBS (H); WD048/WD049/WD080/WD197/WD185) degree programme facilitates the opportunity for students to work in a professional setting for four to eight months. Placement positions, with organisations ranging from local small and medium sized enterprises to multinational companies, provide a fantastic opportunity for students to gain practical experience, and demonstrate acquired skills to employers. Work placement also offers great networking opportunities and is a key competitive advantage on a curriculum vitae (CV).
Employers are delighted to have business students and return each year looking to recruit our undergraduates. The ESB has facilitated work placement for seven students in the past four years, and considers"that the experience of the programme has been very beneficial for both parties".
Many employers offer the placement student a graduates training programme or permanent position when they graduate. Tipperary Co-Op have described their experience of our students as "amazing", while a 2013 placement student commented that he “developed new skills and was able to learn a great deal about business systems and processes” .
