Whether you’re a last-minute racer, or like to get ahead of the posse, we have you covered for the CAO change of mind time between 5 May and 1 July
From Friday, 5 May to 5.15pm on Saturday, 1 July CAO applicants have the chance to change their minds (or be confident about their choices). Getting your CAO preferences in the right order is all about research. Whether you’re a last-minute racer, or like to get ahead of the posse, we have you covered. Here’s our tips on how to make the best use of your change of mind time.
Visit Waterford. Take a day trip or extended break over Easter, some weekend, or (for study-conscious Leaving cert students) at the end of June when the Waterford Viking Marathon is on. Get inspired on the VisitWaterford website.
Find out if SETU is for you. WIT’s CAO Information Open Evening took place on Tuesday 4 April at WIT’s Main Campus 6-8pm. Prospective students had the opportunity to have a look around, talk to staff, and students to make sure that the course and college meets their expectations.
Book a campus visit. Our graduate ambassadors will be on hand to give you a tour of the campus. Bring your friends or your parents and find out more about what it’s like to study at SETU from two graduates. Check availability.
Read course outlines. You may love a course title, or have heard from someone that a certain course would suit you down to the ground. But do you really know what it involves? Read the course outline in detail and put together any queries you may have. Ask a question on the course page, during one of our online Q&As or when you visit.
Talk to people. Want to work in a certain career? Or have your mind set on one specific course. See if someone working in that area will talk to you – friends, families or teachers may know someone through their network. You can also contact the course leader to see if they can put you in touch with a current student or graduate, details are on each course page.
Understand progression routes. Get to grips with the various routes to the future you want. SETU has a great selection of Level 6 and 7 courses through which you can go onto do further study at Level 8 (and beyond if you wish right up to PhD; we have a range of postgraduate programmes). Use the contact us on the individual course page to find out about ways to work your way up the ladder. Find out more about Level 6 and Level 7 courses.
CAO Change of Mind Help Line. Our team will be on hand to answer any queries you may to help with last-minute decision making 9.30pm-5pm daily from Monday 1 May to Tuesday 27 June. View the event page.
Live online Ask SETU. Have you questions that need to be answered? Are you on a particular course page and you’re curious about career opportunities or course outline? Ask SETU means you can interact with our team here through the little “?” button that will appear on the bottom corner of your screen.
CAO offers. In case you have any doubt or last minute queries, we will be live on the phones to answer any questions on a daily basis, especially running up to offers. You can contact the team at 051-834 177/051-834176
