Laura Keane, a third year graphic design student at WIT, who was announced recently as the winner of the Brand Lismore Logo competition was presented with a cheque for €3,000 by the Minister of Tourism, Transport and Sport Leo Varadkar, TD at Lismore Heritage Centre on Monday, 6th May.
Dan McCormack of Lismore Marketing Group said the judges had faced an incredibly difficult decision. The 20 shortlisted projects were of an exceptionally high calibre and the colleges were to be commended on the professional standard of the work submitted. Four of the twenty shortlisted projects were selected as finalists: Laura Keane and Fiona O'Farrell of Waterford Institute of Technology, Stephen Willis of Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology and Martyna Potocka of Cork Institute of Technology.
Laura's logo which features a silhouette of the tower of Lismore Castle incorporated in a two tone leaf design will be adopted by Lismore Marketing Group who hope to use it as a universal logo for Lismore town and all local businesses and visitor attractions.
