A number of WIT electronic engineering students ran a successful table quiz in association with the School of Engineering during Engineering Week to raise funds for the Solas Centre, Waterford A total of 456 euro was raised and this was presented to Ann Marie Power, fundraising co-ordinator, at the Solas Centre on the 5th of March 2015. This was the second year that such a quiz was ran.
Dr Martin Hayes, Course Leader for the Higher Certificate in Electronic Engineering, WD010 commented
"It is great to see students getting involved with fund raising efforts for such a worthy cause. It is very easy for students to get totally absorbed in student life and not realise the sometimes stark health issues that many people have to face. The Solas Centre provides vital support services to cancer patients, their families and carers and is totally reliant on income raised through fundraising"
Many thanks to the Craftsman Lounge, Lisduggan, for the use of their facilities. Sincere thanks to all that attended and donated money. Thanks to Stephen O'Shea, a former electronic engineering student, for his inimitable quiz master skills and joke-telling ability. Finally, many thanks to the following who kindly donated prizes for a raffle held during the quiz.
