ELSA Celebrate Law Week 2015

ELSA WIT recently celebrated WIT Law Week 2015, during which the committee welcomed guest speaker Sgt. Andrew Lacey who gave an interesting talk on the process of criminal investigation within the Irish justice system. Mr Lacey then went on to discuss the career paths open to WIT graduates within the Garda Siochana.

Following his talk, ELSA WIT President Jade Power; ELSA WIT Secretary General Paul Browne; and ELSA WIT Board Representative Veronica Kapsova presented Sgt. Lacey with a Certificate of Appreciation for his contribution to the education of WIT Law students.

The committee also travelled to the Dublin’s Four Courts along with a number of students from the LL.B.; Legal Studies; and Criminal Justices Studies. Whilst there, the students had the opportunity to sit in on a number of cases in the various courts, and were delighted to see the Supreme Court in action. The students also travelled to the Criminal Courts of Justice, where they availed of the opportunity to sit in on a number of the high profile cases currently in session. Those who attended to Dublin praised ELSA WIT for providing law based students at WIT the opportunity to experience a practical example of the Irish legal system.

Law Week 2015 came to a close on Thursday 26th February with the revival of the WIT Law Ball, hosted by both ELSA WIT and the WIT Law Society. ELSA WIT is looking forward to travelling to Dublin for the upcoming ELSA Ireland NCM Elections in the next few weeks.
