The School of Business in conjunction with Ernst &Young hosted the Enterprise Xchange Event in October in the Atrium of the Tourism and Leisure Building. The event was developed by the School of Business and the alumni of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
The entrepreneurs present were Adrienne Dolphin, Rigney Dolphin, Patsy Carney, EirGen Pharma and Michael Flynn, FLI Group.
Enterprise Xchange offered WIT students and staff an opportunity to engage with previous finalists of the Ernst Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards in a relaxed, round-table group setting. One-to-one clinic sessions are also available to staff and students with a business idea/start-up.
After the event students expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet with EY Entrepreneur of the Year finalists. They enjoyed the experience of hearing from more than one entrepreneur and drew benefit from hearing about business in different sectors. All in all they valued the opportunity to learn from the experience of entrepreneurs who had such successful businesses.
The one to one clinics in particular seemed to resonate with students. This is captured by the following quotes:
“Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to talk to one of the great entrepreneurs . She was full of helpful ideas that made me feel like I can do it even tomorrow!”.
“I found both the table session and 1-to-1 very interesting and helpful. On a personal level I felt another barrier was lifted enabling the possibility of acting upon both present and future ideas of my own”.
