The inaugural Further Education & Training (FET) Forum Colloquium took place in Waterford Institute of Technology on February 18th 2015.

The inaugural Further Education & Training (FET) Forum Colloquium took place in Waterford Institute of Technology on February 18th 2015. The event featured several keynote speakers including Mr. Paul O’Toole, CEO of SOLAS and Mr. Tomás Ó Ruairc, Director of the Teaching Council of Ireland. Concurrent parallel workshops also addressed key issues in FET across practice, policy and academic platforms. 

The national event, 'Policy, Practice and Theory - New developments for initial and continued professional development for Further Education and Training', was hosted by WIT and brought together key stakeholders from across the FET sector including practitioners, employers, policy makers, higher education providers, researchers and leading thinkers.

Details of the FET Forum

The Further Education & Training (FET) Forum is a national forum focused on the continued enhancement of teaching and learning in FET through collaborative working strategies and development of communities of practice. The Forum will influence national policy for the sector, and will establish links with the Department of Education and Skills, the Teaching Council, SOLAS, the Local Education and Training Boards, and Quality and Qualifications Ireland.

Forum membership is comprised of higher education institutions providing teacher education programmes for further education & training as accredited by the Teaching Council of Ireland. This includes: NUI Galway, Mary Immaculate College, National College of Ireland, Maynooth University, Marino Institute of Education,  Dublin CIty University, National College of Art & Design
