Sophie overwhelmed and happy as she was awarded a top 4 finish in the BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Science Final Year Research Project Poster Award
Sophie Meehan, a past pupil of Scoil Ruain, Killenaule, County Tipperary is one of 35 students at WIT to be shortlisted for an award for her poster presentation for her final year research project where she was awarded as a finalist in the School of Science award ceremony which took place on Wednesday 22 of May.
Sophie is a final year student is studying BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Science.
Sophie explains why she was nominated for the undergraduate research project poster award:
‘I was lucky enough to be able to present my research project to the science lectures and faculty in WIT were I was examined by three judges (Dr. Ritchie Ryan, Dr. Evelyn Landers and Dr. Larry Fitzhenry) on both my presentation of my findings as well as the clarity of my poster. From this I was selected as one of the top four presenters to present in front of the Head of Science in WIT and two industry members from Sanofi were I was placed as a finalist.
I was so overwhelmed and happy that my work would be considered for this award.
Looking onto the future I hope that I can work for a company were I can make a difference and I would like to return to WIT sometime in the future to undertake a master’s degree’.
