Bachelor of Arts (Hons) graduate progresses onto a Master in Sociology by Research following a great college experience and a passion for education
Caroline Walsh, a graduate of Bachelor of Arts (Hons), has decided to continue her journey through academia by pursuing a Master in Sociology by Research at SETU. A wonderful college experience and a passion for education became the driving force behind her decision to study more.
“I had such a great experience as an undergrad and wanted to keep going with it,” Caroline says.
Unknown possibilities
Caroline says she ‘didn’t predict this route at the beginning of the course’, but she’s ‘delighted’ with her current position. Caroline’s Master in Sociology by Research is concerned with the Jewish community in Ireland and how The Holocaust effects them.
From essay to Master’s
Caroline couldn’t predict her current path during the early days of her degree, but an assignment in first year played an important role in her decision to pursue a Master in Sociology by Research. “An essay in first year sparked my interest in the area,” Caroline says. This interest ignited into a passion and Caroline based her final year dissertation on it. Ultimately, her passion for the topic led her to delve further and base her Master’s degree on it.
“If someone told me a few years ago that I’d be doing a Master's by Research, I wouldn’t believe them,” Caroline says.
Supportive lecturers
In addition to Caroline’s passion for education and great college experience, like many graduates, she believes that ‘the large amount of support and encouragement she received from the lecturers helped her progress to where she is today’.
