More than half of WIT’s wide choice of undergraduate courses are at level 8 so if you have something specific in mind, you may find we have it
Navigating CAO options isn’t easy and we understand that sometimes it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. The good news is that the area you’re interested in might be easier to find than you realise.
You may be delighted to discover scattered among the 70 or so undergraduate options available in Waterford city at WIT are five specialist level 8 degrees – especially if you want to study within the south east region.
However, one of the common mistakes when choosing which courses to add to your CAO form is assuming that the niche courses are only available in the bigger cities.
And of course that’s the case for some specialist courses. If you’re set on medicine, veterinary, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, or undergraduate journalism and primary teaching courses you currently will have to apply elsewhere.
Five not to miss
Keen on spending five years training to become an architect? Why not choose Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city as an inspirational backdrop.
Want to study Law? Our three-year honours degree Bachelor of Laws L.LB is approved by the Board of the Honorable Society of King's Inns.
Is psychology your dream degree? The three-year honours degree in Psychology at WIT is accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland.
Anxious to study agricultural science? Choose between the Level 8 BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Science (or the Level 7 Agriculture degree if that’s more suited to you).
Wish Waterford had an Arts degree? Hint, we do, since 2012. The Level 8 Arts degree in the School of Humanities is one of our flagship common entry courses.
If you’ve missed these, it’s probably because if you’re used to searching for the area you’re interested in on the CAO search facility it takes awhile before you get to WD (Waterford) courses in the alphabetically sorted search results, and it’s easy to miss out on a course you’d love to do on your doorstep.
Not what you’re looking for? Worry you have missed something else? More than half of WIT’s wide choice of undergraduate courses are at level 8 so if you have something specific in mind, you may find we have it.
WIT has undergraduate courses that will get the majority of students on a path to the type of jobs and lives they want to live.
In Ireland qualifications are classified from Level 1 to 10. This standardised system of quality for educational attainment, means courses offered by all higher education institutions at each level are at a certain standard.
One of the unique features of studying at WIT is that the institute offers programmes from level 6 (Higher Cert) right through to Level 10 (Doctorate).
Climb the ladder
Many people who start on a level 7 or 6 programme progress on to a level 8, or beyond. Determined to get a level 8 or honours degree? Our advice is to make use of the level 7/6 list on the CAO form – when the CAO offers are made, it may end up being your preferred route to take to your level 8.
