FSAA award heightens the hospitality and culinary arts faculty awareness of the importance in maintaining food safety standards and compliance
The Food Safety Assurance Award 2017 has been presented by the Food Safety Professionals Association to the Department of Languages, Tourism and Hospitality to recognise the extremely high level of hygiene maintained in the culinary and hospitality operation in the training at the institute.
Ray Cullen, Head of the Department of Languages, Tourism and Hospitality explains the importance of this award which follows an annual audit.
“In hospitality and culinary arts training, the production, consumption and service of food prepared by our students requires the highest hygienic and practical safety standards, which is a core element of our teaching philosophy. The Food Safety Assurance Award is a major external benchmark to these standards and heightens the student and staff awareness of the importance in maintaining food safety standards and compliance,” he said.
