Shortlisting a testament to the strong student-centred culture in WIT and efforts to ensure a continued high quality learning experience for our students during this pandemic
Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) has been shortlisted in four areas, and for three awards in the 2021 Education Awards which take place in May 2021 virtually.
The Education Awards recognise, encourage and celebrate excellence in the third level education sector on the island of Ireland from both State and privately funded institutions.

- The institute is on the shortlist in both the Best Use of Educational Technology/ICT Initiative of the Year, which it won in 2020.
- Calmast, WIT’s STEM outreach centre is also a finalist in the Best Education Outreach Award.
Staff innovation
Dr Helen Murphy, Head, School of Education and Lifelong Learning congratulated the teams on being shortlisted as finalists.
“We are delighted to be shortlisted in a number of categories for the 2021 Education Awards. The past year has been hugely challenging for all of us in the third level sector but this recognition demonstrates the level of engagement and innovation that is taking place across the Institute despite the adverse and challenging circumstances Covid-19 has brought,” she said.
“Our colleagues across schools and departments nominated for these national awards are testament to the strong student-centred culture in WIT and our efforts to ensure a continued high quality learning experience for our students during this pandemic.”
