Higher Cert in Arts Legal Studies graduate Patrick is undertaking his FE1 exams as well as working as a representative for Kilkenny County Council
“I am currently pursuing a career in legal practice. I have commenced my FE1 Law Society Entrance Exams and hope to enter Blackhall Place in the coming year.”
“As a Leaving Certificate student I was unsure as to what I wanted to do. At the time, I was considering a career in An Garda Siochána. As someone who had little or no experience of law or law enforcement, I felt it would be important to undertake some legal studies before making my decision. I chose the Higher Certificate in Arts in Legal Studies at WIT, a two year course which would provide me with a sound knowledge of the Irish legal system and the main areas of law. It was the best decision I could have made.”
“Once I began my studies it became apparent that I enjoyed studying the law and the notion of going on to pursue a career in legal practice as a solicitor became an option; something I would never have considered prior to taking up my studies at WIT.”
“I can say without any hesitation that the Legal Studies course structure provided by WIT allowed me to access a career and opportunities that I would never have considered as a leaving certificate student.”
“Academic life at WIT is very enjoyable and rewarding. Lecturers are very personable and more importantly, accessible to students. I grew in confidence during my time at WIT and I gained a keen interest in current affairs. The interest I gained in the Law during my time at WIT, coupled with this keen interest in current affairs provided me with skills and abilities which allowed me to become very much involved in politics. Now I represent my community on Kilkenny County Council and I can say that my time in WIT on the Legal Studies course made this possible.”
“I will be forever thankful to the lecturers and management in the Law Department of WIT.”
