Julie always regretted leaving college without completing her degree when she returned the support from lecturers helped her to achieve her goal
Why did you choose to study in WIT and did you enjoy it?
It was close to home and it offered the course that I was looking to do. I enjoyed it, it has a really good social life you make friends for life, and it’s a very close knit community.
What was it like returning after a long gap?
I had actually started the course in 2007 but I didn’t finish it so I went back this year to do a couple of modules to finally get my degree. It’s a long time coming so I’m fairly delighted to get here. It took a couple of weeks to get used to sitting in a classroom, but the lecturers were very good, made you feel very relaxed, back into the swing of it in no time then
What advice would you give students in a similar position?
I would advise people who may be considering returning to college to finish their course definitely do it, I put it on the long finger for way too long. I think it’s something I regretted for a long time so I was delighted when I did take the jump and come back to it so if you are thinking of doing it, definitely do it.
Did you enjoy the course?
It’s a bit different from your day to day office job If you don’t want to be stuck inside the whole time It’s quite varied, there’s a lot of different aspects to it, you could do design, go on further into green keeping, anything really, it’s a very varied and gives you a load of options for the future.
What are you doing now?
I’ve been working full time in a garden centre, I am running it with one other person so I’m involved day to day in and outs of it.
