The School of Business at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), in association with the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland (BSTAI), hosted a special awards evening on 8 October for all secondary school students in the South East Region who achieved an ‘A’ grade in this year’s Junior Certificate Higher Level Business Studies.
The ceremony, now in its ninth year, took place at the Main Campus of WIT, where each student was presented with a certificate of achievement by WIT’s Registrar, Dr. Derek O’Byrne.
320 students from 50 schools in the region (Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow and South Tipperary) attended the awards ceremony with their parents, business studies teachers and school principals. The National President of BSTAI, Ms Jenny Harrington spoke of the importance of studying business subjects for the Leaving Certificate examinations.
Dr. Thomas O’Toole, Head of the School of Business at WIT said that “the evening was an opportunity for parents, teachers and principals to celebrate the success of their students. This Ceremony recognises students’ excellence, and the quality of business teaching in their schools. It is a community event for students, parents and teachers and gives them an opportunity to visit WIT and the School of Business. “
