Luke studied an area he was really interested in he worked hard for his degree and has continued to study specialised courses for the retail industry
Luke Byrne graduated in 2019 from WIT with a BSc in Retail Management
What did you enjoy about your time in WIT?
The socialising, living away for the first time was great. I made a lot of new friends, like a lot of people from Wexford and then I branched out and met people from other counties and towns and I’m still in contact with them, I’ve made some good friends for life.
Was work placement beneficial?
Yes, 100 percent work experience has helped me get the job where I am now. I was working in a smaller retail store selling fast fashion and now I’m working with suits and menswear, it’s a level up I suppose.
Any advice for someone considering Retail Management?
My advice to people that might be considering doing Retail Management would be study and learn how to study from the very start, just learn it. Once you know how to study you’ll do it for the rest of your life, doing more courses and all after college. Just learn how to study, stay in at night and do your work. Do your course, that’s the best advice I could give.
What are you doing now?
I am working in retail, I work in a suit shop, ‘Fitzgerald’s Wexford’ and I am doing a course on visual merchandising and window display.
