Megan was “over the moon” when she found out she was being awarded the President’s Scholarship and is thoroughly enjoying her time in WIT
Megan is studying a BA (Hons) in Marketing and Digital Media and is in 1st year. She is daughter of Glen and Aideen Lanigan, Gorey, County Wexford. In her scholarship application she outlined:
Her participation in secondary school life, which included being involved in Young Social Innovators, AIB Build a Bank Challenge, Student Enterprise Programme, Meitheal Mentoring Programme and the Yearbook Committee. She won the Student of the Year Award in Transition Year. Over the duration of her school years she made 'GoPro' videos to capture her experiences and posted them to YouTube, these videos are used by her school to showcase Transition Year to incoming students. She has also completed both Silver and Bronze Gaisce Presidents Awards.
Megan explains why she applied for the Presidents Scholarship: “I've always wanted to go to WIT, and when the scholarship was advertised I applied with evidence of everything I had achieved at the time with the hope I'd be considered. I was over the moon when I found out I got the Scholarship, and I am absolutely loving WIT and my course so far. I love all my lecturers and Waterford is a great city to live in, I've made some amazing friends and I can't wait to go back!”
She hopes in the future to work as a Social Media or Digital Marketing Manager in a multinational company, with her course BA (Hons) in Marketing and Digital Media.
She was joined at the ceremony by her parents Glen and Aideen Lanigan and her sister Hannah Lanigan, As well as the Vice-Principal of Gorey Community School, Stella Kehoe.
