After the initial shock of getting into the headspace of learning Ciaran started to enjoy the learning experience

Ciaran Heffernan is from Waterford and has an engineering background. Since completing the Masters In Lean he works full-time as a lean coach in Sanofi

Tell me about your college experience?

I originally went to CIT where I got my base degree in engineering. I graduated in 2011 and then I worked in two different industries. I started a Masters program then in 2016. Initially it was tough, I was working a full time job and trying to do evening classes and at the weekend. And youre trying to get back to the headspace of learning. It was very tough a bit of a shock to the system but when that kind of subsided I got into a bit of a rhythm. And I started to enjoy it, I started to enjoy the challenge, enjoy the learning experience again. So overall it was a very positive experience, it was challenging but I got a lot of opportunities because of it, and met a lot of great people and learned a lot. Overall very positive.

What are you doing now?

I work in pharmaceuticals, I am a lean coach in Sanofi in Waterford. Previous to that I was in engineering. And by doing a postgraduate diploma in lean sent me in that direction so now I work full time I that area.
