Little did Seamus know when he began studying the Higher Certificate in Arts in Legal Studies he would go on to graduate from the BA in Legal Studies
Mature student and graduate of BA in Legal Studies Seamus Guiry studied at WIT to further develop his expertise in his field of work. Seamus works with the HSE in University Hospital Waterford as a Clinical Engineer.
“Within my workplace there is a lot of contract work,” Seamus says.
Expanding expertise
Due to the high level of contract work, Seamus was eager to broaden his knowledge of the legal aspects of contracts, so he started studying “an evening Higher Certificate in Arts in Legal Studies course at WIT.” When that course concluded, law lecturer Mr. Donal Keating arranged for Seamus and some of his fellow students to join the full time law degree students at WIT.
“Our law lecturer Mr. Donal Keating was dedicated and kind enough to arrange provision where our small group had the opportunity of merging with the full time law degree course students. This allowed us to complete the law degree course part-time over 5-years, and throughout which we continued to work full-time.”
A positive experience
Seamus had a wonderful experience as a mature student at WIT and found the course ‘infinitely’ helpful in his role.
“All credit for our achievements is due to WIT and the excellent staff there. Studying law at WIT was an unqualified pleasure and I would recommend it to anyone that might be considering it.”
