Anyone who has a love of art won't regret choosing WIT's BA (Hons) in Visual Art says Paulette who has gone on to teach in a further education setting
Paulette O’Donovan from Clonmel Co. Tipperary graduated with a BA (Hons) in Visual Art.
Tell me about the course
It was a fantastic course, there are a huge amount of modules on it. We have done drawing, painting, printing, metal work and sculpture, photography and creative multimedia. There are a variety of different mediums used. I would recommend it. I focused on 3D from 3rd year, my main area being sculpture.
What are you doing now?
I am currently doing a post grad diploma in teaching in further education, also through WIT, I have three teaching placements through this course teaching drawing and sculpture modules to level 4 and 5 students. I am also currently teaching in a VTOS centre in Co Clare doing a drawing module with students there.
Why WIT
At first, locality was the main reason I chose WIT because of being a parent, I also liked the look of the college and course. Having a campus with smaller class numbers, this for older students makes the experience more personal. I was a chef for years but then I decided I needed a change, I opted to try my hand at something I'd always loved doing and I always loved art.
Any advice for someone considering this course?
If you have the love for art you won't regret doing this course. It's a cosy setting. It's a home away from home. The studio sizes are very generous and being part of of a smaller group, means plenty of opportunity for one to one advice from the lecturers too. I would highly recommend WIT for this course.
