Oliver Lehane, a WIT BSc (Hons) Finance and Investment graduate tells why he went on to do a MBS in Economics and Finance at WIT’s School of Business

Oliver Lehane graduated with a MBS in Economics & Finance from WIT in 2017. We spoke to him at Conferring 2017.

Why did you choose to do a Masters?

I really wanted to do a Masters because I wanted to be challenged. I wanted to do something few people get an opportunity to do and push the limits of what I can do and really get to the edge. It was really about personal development and learning about myself more than just trying to find a job afterwards.

Why did you choose Economics & Finance?

I have a personal interest in economics and finance. Finance and economics seems to be the glue of business around the world. Every business has something to do with it. Not only does it interest me but I wanted to study it at a deeper level.

What are your hopes for the future?

I’m hoping to open a business – a casino. The modules I covered in economics and finance have built a foundation of the finance industry which is what manages all businesses really. There’s a family history [the Atlantic Arcade in Tramore, and one in Cork]. I’ll be starting up again from fresh. We sold up ours years ago but I sent 15 years working in it before I went to college.
