Louise applied for the President’s Scholarship to allow her “access to all the material, tools and technology needed to aid my learning,"
Louise Dunphy, a past pupil of Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School is one of 5 students at WIT to be awarded a President’s Scholarship in 2016.
The 4th year student is studying Bachelor of Business Honours.
In her scholarship application she outlined her love of the arts, community work and her desire to open her own business in the future.
She is a charismatic hard-working student who believes in her volunteer work in the area of community drama and participation in national poetry competitions in her application for the President's Scholarship. She is still involved in the arts to this day and feels going to college has helped her poetic writing.
Louise explains why she applied for the President’s Scholarship: “I applied for this prestigious scholarship to allow me access to all the material, tools and technology needed to aid my learning with the extra funding during my course and also as companies recognise this achievement greatly in the hiring process.”
“I chose to study here after talking to lecturers at the open day in 2016 who praised how smaller class ratios in WIT compared to universities, aided students learning ability.”
Her dreams for the future include working in many areas of the professional world and ultimately creating her own business venture in the area of fashion and beauty.
