The scholarship scheme, which had its first cohort in 2016, encourages and rewards young people who show a capacity to shape a better society
Dominika Kuzniar, a past pupil of Presentation Secondary School, Waterford is one of five first year students at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) to be awarded a President’s Scholarship.
Dominika is a first year student on the Bachelor of Architecture (Hons).
In her scholarship application she outlined how she had the potential to shape future society.
“During my free time I always enjoyed sketching and I was fascinated by the creative process. Through architecture I knew that I would be able to transfer these skills and improve the daily lives of others by creating good designs. I believe that my determination and diligence will make this a reality in the future years to come.”
Dominika explains why she applied for the President’s Scholarship: “I knew that the scholarship would allow me to fully focus on my studies and open many doors for me not only during my time in WIT but also in the future. In architecture every day is a challenge which makes the course very rewarding at the end of the day. “
The first year student says her dreams for the future include working with individuals to whom she looks up to in the architectural field, as well as setting up her own architectural practice and having a positive impact on the built environment.
